A farm in the making

In 2023 we moved to South-Eastern Styria and took over a small, unusual farm: a main building that feels like a little castle, meadows, young trees and plenty of room for rare fruit.

Here grows what is rarely found elsewhere.

Burg Oberspitz is managed organically. Much is still taking shape — including this website.

What grows here

Our focus is on unusual edible fruit, special woody plants and plants you will not find in every garden.

Persimmons · Pawpaws · Heartnuts · Pluots · Jujubes · Mulberries · red-fleshed apples · hardy passionflowers · edible curiosities

Hardy passionflowers: delicate in appearance and surprisingly robust.

Flowers and edible surprises: lotus can be used in many ways.

Growing further

Much is still young. Over the next few years, this space will grow with more images, plant portraits and small notes from the farm.
